A book about the Serbian inventor Nikola Tesla (1856 1943) who was born in the little Croatian village of Smiljan exactly at midnight [!] and soon turned out to be a mathematical prodigy and a stunning genius in mental arithmetic. Electrical engineering was his destiny, his vocation, and his mission. With only four cents and some of his own poems in his pocket, Tesla left for New York in 1884 where he began to work for Thomas Alva Edison s General Electric Company .
