The volume 'How the City is Alive. Art & the City 1914-2013" - which completes the trilogy of which "La città nuova oltre Sant'Elia" and "Ritratti di città" are part - offers a century-long overview of the birth and emergence of the modern city and the life that flows in its spaces, through the eyes of fifty Italian and international artists, who investigate through different media, supports and expressive languages, the ways of everyday life. Today, the city is no longer the promised land of the Futurists or other avant-gardes, nor a purely architectural artefact, but a vital, complex and multiform organism, the protagonist of the transition from modernity to post-modernity. With its ferments, its interweaving of human relations, its contradictions and the different declinations of experience that characterise it, the city is a fundamental place of social living. The artists presented include Lichtenstein, Warhol, Turcato, Balla, Chia, De Chirico, Savinio, Pistoletto, Cattelan, Newton, Jarr and Clemente. Como, Villa Olmo, July - November 2015
