Made on Föhr

Mit Made on Föhr startet das Museum Kunst der Westküste eine neue Ausstellungs- und Publikationsreihe. Präsentiert wird Kunst, die im Kontext der Inselaufenthalte zahlreicher nationaler und internationaler Künstler*innen entstanden ist. Nicole Ahland, Elina Brotherus und Thomas Wrede haben die Natur Föhrs sehr unterschiedlich wahrgenommen. Ihre Fotoarbeiten machen den insularen Naturkosmos sinnlich erfahrbar und laden zum intimen Dialog ein. Doch nicht alles ist, was es scheint: So manche Szene entpuppt sich als Täuschung, als fast perfekte Illusion, die unsere Wahrnehmung auf die Probe stellt. Im Kontext fotografischer Selbstinszenierung wird die nordfriesische Landschaft darüber hinaus als Schauplatz skurriler Posen in ein neues Licht gerückt. Made on Föhr marks the start of a new series of exhibitions and publications at the Museum Kunst der Westküste. The series will present art created in the context of numerous German and international artists’ stays on the island. Nicole Ahland, Elina Brotherus and Thomas Wrede perceived the nature on Föhr in very different ways. Their photographic works enable us to experience the island’s natural cosmos in a sensual manner and invite us to engage in an intimate dialogue. However, not everything is what it appears: some scenes reveal themselves to be deceptions, nearly perfect illusions that test our powers of perception. Moreover, in the context of photographic self-presentation, the North Frisian landscape is placed in a new light as a setting for bizarre poses.
